Le Golf de l’Ermitage, Le Pecq (78), Paris. (1900s - WW1)

When the club decided to vacate the course at Le-Mesnil-le-Roi in the early 1900s two sites were chosen to replace it, one at La Boulie and the second one at Le Pecq.

Le Pecq was a place favoured by many of the impressionists and was close to Saint-Germain-en-Laye. It was here that Mr Jean Boussod owned an estate where he bred racehorses. With the help and support of Mr de la Lombardière, he decided to construct a nine-hole course on part of the land. The clubhouse was a very picturesque old farm building lying between the River Seine and the hills of St Germain. The club was named Le Golf de l’Ermitage.

In 1910 the professional was L Crouvet, he held the course record with a score of 34.

Extract from Arnaud Massy's book "Le Golf", 1911 edition. "Not far from Paris, at Pecq (Seine et Oise) l'Ermitage golf club is situated, consisting of 9-holes. It offers the noteable advantage of being only 5 minutes from the station at Saint Germain and of being served by the tramway from Paris-Etoile to Saint Germain which stops barely 5o metres from the entrance.

The club professional is Louis Trouvet who also holds the club record with 34 shots for 9 holes, while the amateur record belongs to M E Didier with 35 shots.

The fees are 5 francs a day, 20 francs a week, 45 francs a month, but these prices are not charged for players who are part of a recognised club."

The club was considered an old fashioned one and the course not really challenging and was described as “a ladies course, in a hazardless sward without any natural difficulties”.

It disappeared prior to WW1.
