Gavarnie Golf Club, Haute-Pyrénées (65). (1890/1900s)
Very little is known about this club except that it had a nine-hole course. It’s probable that the course was attached to the Grand Hotel.
Report on two new courses in April 1894.
Mention of the golf course in June 1895.
The following is taken from Arnaud Massy's 1911 book "Le Golf" - "The course at Gavarnie, which consists of 9-holes, is situated in the Pyrenées near the Cirque de Gavarnie. The links are perfect, with numerous natural hazards."
We visited the area in June 2017 and took the picture of the Hotel.
The Google Map below pinpoints the Hotel Vignemale.
