Lyon Golf Club, Rhône (69). (1921 - 1960s)

The club was founded in 1921.

The original nine-hole Lyon course was located at Mont-Louis, Saint-Genis Laval. The course was extended to eighteen-holes around 1930.

Due to the construction of a motorway the club moved to its present location at Vilette-Danton in the 1960s.

The above is from the "Les Golfs de France & Belgique", published circa 1929 and confirms that there is a 9 hole-course in existence with another 9-holes currently being constructed.

In the early 1950s the secretary was L Brun; the professional, L Ghintran; green-keeper, A Dussud. Course records were; professional, L Ghintran 63 amateur, H Alibaux 70. The club had a membership of 350. The station at Lyon was 5 kilometres from the course. Sunday play was permitted.
