Royan Golf Club, Breuillet (17). (1927 - WW2)
In 1927 the first course was created at Taupignac, in the municipality of Breuillet, about 5k from the resort. Par 70 total measurement 5,550 metres.
In 1932/3 it was listed as a nine-hole course (being extended to 18). Visitors’ fees were, 20 francs a day, 85 francs a week and 100 francs a month.
Following WW2 the secretary was R Fauconler, telephone Breuillet 1. The professional was A Curely and the green-keeper M Corbeau. It was listed as an eight-hole course with a SSS of 74. The club had a membership of 50. Course records were; amateur – R Lacroix, 68; professional – A Ghintran, 68. Visitors’ fees 30 francs a day. The station at Royat was 5 k from the course.
The club closed following WW2, the current club was formed in 1977.
