Aarhus Golf Club at Skåde (1931 – 1968)

The first golf club was founded in 1901 at Aarhus. Founder and chairman was Eugen Schmidt, who had been infected with the golf virus during a stay in Scotland. The course was laid out on undulating land at EgåFed, where the club's 20 members usually arrived by bicycle. The course was only very short lived and most probably closed after a year or so.

Aarhus Golf Club, Denmark’s sixth-oldest golf club, was founded in 1931. The later golf course was at Teglbakken, Højbjerg, Skåde. The Course had 9-holes and was 2.096m long. The scratch score was 35 and the club had 80 members (1950). In 1964 - 65 the then Holme-Tranbjerg municipality decided to parcel the area and sell the land the golf course was on for housing.

So Aarhus Golf Club became homeless, but on the other end of the city Vejlby-Risskov municipality was able to help, as they had just acquired land at Mollerupgård in order to open an industrial area. Some land was left over and the first golf shot in Mollerup was hit as early as 1968, when Aarhus Golf Club inaugurated its new 9-hole course there.

By 1986, the Aarhus Golf Club got hold of its current location at Ny Moesgårdvej in Højbjerg, merely not more than a kilometre south of where their first golf course was situated.Until 1993, the club operated both the nine holes in Mollerup and the course on Ny Moesgårdvej, but then the Mollerup course was taken over by Mollerup Golf Club and separated from Aarhus Golf Club. Meanwhile the course at Mollerup has been extended to 18-holes.
