San Gian (St. Moritz) Golf Club. (1927)

Another summer golf course (season from June 15th to September 15th) was opened in San Gian near St. Moritz in 1927 according to the plans drawn by Peter Gannon. The course had 9-holes playing over 2.037m with a bogey of 36. There were reduced green fees for members of Samaden Golf Club.

To cope with the ever increasing number of golf enthusiasts the Kurverein decided to lay out a new links at St. Moritz Bad. A correspondent states “The site chosen is a good one, situated behind the Kurhaus and extending in the direction of the woods skirting the banks of the Inn. An inspection of the course leads us to think that, with due care and under the guidance of an expert in such matters, it should soon become as good as any other one in the Engadine, The greens now are rough and too small but there is no reason why it should not in course of time be made to compare with the best here…” (taken from: “Engadine Golf Club, 1893-1993”, p. 134.)
