A member provided the following information on the course in newsaper report in December 1933 - "The course is situated, as the name suggests, on the Garngoch Common, Gorseinon, which has an historical background. Many famous battles have been fought on this common, which derives its name from the blood shed thereon. Well, a few battles of a different nature have been fought there since, and, no doubt, with equal verbosity! Garngoch is a nine-hole course which has effectively been mapped out. The fairways are equal to any in the country, having the real Scotch heather growing on them. Up to last year were rather on the small side, owing to the lack of funds, but the members have now expended a quite a lot of money on the course. We have already laid three new greens that would do credit to any course, and we hope to continue the improvements. We also anticipate that our membership will increase as a result. We provide, I think, the cheapest golf in the locality, our annual "sub" being £1/11s/6d for men and 15s for ladies. Our green fees are only 1s/6d, a day, and the welcome visitors receive in the club house is alone worth this!"
