Nant Ffrancon Golf Club, Bethesda, Gwynedd. (1930 - 1936)

First appeared in 1930.

The spelling Nant Frangcon is also used.

The official opening of the course was on Saturday 10 May at 2pm. The opening ceremony was performed by Lord and Lady Penrhyn. This was followed by an exhibition match between Mr Skirton of Bangor Golf Club and Mr Lewis Williams of Bull Bay Golf Club, Mr Hugh Lloyd and Mr Wheldon Jones represented Nant Ffrancon. The exhibition match was followed by various competitions open to all members.

The secretary in 1930 was E.R.Hughes. The professional was H Palferman who won the Welsh Professional Championship at Wrexham in 1930. Subs for gents were £1/5/0 and ladies 15/-, non playing members paid 10/6. Juniors of under 18 years of age also paid 10/6. No juniors were allowed on the course after 5pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays or after 1pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Visitors’ fees were 2/- a day, 3/- in July, August and September. Gents paid 7/6 a week, 12/6 a fortnight and £1/5/0 a month. Ladies paid 5/-, 10/- and 15/- respectively. Course records were: amateur Major Donaldson (67); professional I Williams (65). The subscriptions for that year were to be paid to Lloyds Bank by May 1930.
