In 1914 the joint secretaries were W T Wooley, Sunnybank House, Griffiths Town and E H Bennett, “Royston”, Pontypool, the was professional G Burton. A 9-hole course with a membership of 170. Entry fees were £1/1/0. Subs for gents were £1/1/0 and ladies 10/6d. Visitors’ fees were 1/- a day. There was no Sunday play. The station at Pontypool Road was 5 minutes away.

Western Mail Tuesday 28  October 1913 - "A definite move in connection with the laying out of an eighteen-hole course at Penyrheol for the Panteg Golf Club will be made during the course of the next week or two, when Mr H S Colt of Sunningdale, will come down for three days to plan out the course. It is understood the work of construction will be proceeded with immediately the necessary plans are prepared."

Report from the Western Mail Tuesday 2 June 1914. "A highly satisfactory state of affairs was revealed at the annual meeting of the Panteg Golf Club last week, and the progress which is being made at Panteg is also being made by other clubs in the Eastern Valley. Golf has "caught on" during the last four years in a most surprising manner, and after a little more than six years existence the Panteg club is now in a happy position of being able to declare itself out of debt, and, in consequence of this, the founders of the club, who guaranteed it financially, have now decided to tender their resignations as members of the committee. This decision was brought to the notice of the members at their annual meeting, and, as a token of their appreciation of the services rendered to the club by the founders, they decided to elect them all vice-presidents, and to hang a memento group photograph of them in the clubhouse. Unfortunately, however, for the club, they have now a very big obstacle to face in the shape of finding a new playing course for the members. A considerable amount of discussion has been going on locally as to the probability of an amalgamation between the Panteg and Pontypool clubs, and providing an eighteen-hole course for the enjoyment of the members. The desirability of the adoption of such a course is easily apparent, but, as there appears to be no desire on the part of the members of the Panteg Club to move far away from their present site, Pontypool members are not in the least likely to agree to go so far afield for their play."

Results from the Panteg Golf Club Summer Meeting played in July 1914. Bogey Competition - S Evans (9), 3up; W J Thomas (14), 1down; A James (8), 2down; Ll Hughes (8), 2down; E J Bailey (8), 2down; A J Burgoyne (12), 2down.
