It was reported in September 1914 that various schemes had been put in operation for supporting war funds. Welshpool Golf Club decided to arrange competitions in aid of the Prince of Wales National Relief Fund by establishing a “war tax” urging that, “in all matches in which members participate on the links, the loser should pay a small sum into a collection box in the clubhouse.”

In 1924 the visitors’ fees were 2/- a day, 7/6d a week and 12/6d a month.

In the late 1920s the new 18-hole Welshpool club was created at Golfa Hill.
