Capel Golf Club, New Tredegar. (1910 - 1952)
The club first appeared in 1910.
It was sometimes reported as the New Tredegar Golf Club.
In a newspaper report in 1936 it was stated that the "Capel golf course is the highest in Great Britain."
The secretary from 1920 was T G Williams, Post Office, Elliots Town, New Tredegar, (then in Monmouthshire), telephone 18. Capel Golf Club had a 9-hole course with a membership of about 100. Visitors’ fees were 1/6d a day with no Sunday play. The station at Tirphill was 1 mile away. T G Williams continued as secretary to the closure of the club in 1952.
The club was wound up in 1952.
Interesting to note that in the report below from May 1922 it mentions that the course had been in existence for 12 years. Still searching for evidence of this earlier course.

In April 1933 Mrs Annie Williams, women's captain, holed in one at the fifth hole. This was the first occasion in the clubs 21 year history that a lady member had accomplished this. Mrs Williams was the wife of the secretary of the club, T G Williams.

From the Merthyr Express Saturday 30 May 1936 - "Capel Golf Club are welcoming an influx of new members who are taking up the game. Capel golf course is the highest in Great Britain, with Rhymney a good second."
